In what has been one of Turkey’s most devastating earthquakes in history, the death toll has surpassed 46,000. On February 6th, a seismic event struck the Turkey-Syria border region, resulting in a surge in fatalities. At 4:17 AM local time, a powerful earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale hit the southeastern region of Turkey. Subsequently, on Monday, two more powerful earthquakes struck in the afternoon and evening.
Apart from Turkey, the extensive areas of Syria have also suffered catastrophic earthquakes. Thousands of buildings have been reduced to rubble. Most people were asleep when the earthquakes occurred in the morning. In response to the distressed individuals affected by the earthquake, Bangladeshi organization SPEED (Save People from Economic and Environmental Disaster) has taken a commendable step. On Monday, February 20th, SPEED collaborated with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) to dispatch blankets and dry food to Turkey from Bangladesh.
