
The non-profit, non-political organization SPEED (Save People from Economic and Environmental Disaster), established in 2009 and comprising university students as volunteers, has been steadfast in its commitment to assisting those affected by natural disasters such as cyclones, floods, tornadoes, landslides, river erosion, and arsenic contamination in drinking water in Bangladesh.
Last Wednesday afternoon (February 01), the organization distributed winter treats among impoverished and street children at various locations surrounding the BUET cafeteria, TSC of Dhaka University, Shahbag, Fuller Road, Shahid Minar, and Doel Chattar.
Present at the event were founding president of the organization, Dr. Ripon Hore, founding vice-president and civil engineer Md. Ahsan Habib, current president of SPEED, engineer Rimi Bashar, and general secretary engineer Md. Ashikur Rahman Talukdar (Nibir), along with students from BUET, Dhaka Medical College, Dhaka University, BRAC University, and EdenCollege.
Amidst a festive atmosphere, the organization distributed winter treats among the children, spreading warmth and joy in the chilly weather.
